Gloucester Catholic Announces Fall 2018 College Athletic Commitments

Azana Baines Commits to Duke University for Women’s Basketball

Azana Baines Duke Graphic GCHSGloucester Catholic senior basketball star Azana Baines has given a verbal commitment to play basketball at Duke University next season.

Azana has been one of New Jersey’s premier guards since her freshman season. The 6-foot-1 Baines finished her junior year in 2017-18 averaging 20.1 points per game while pulling down more than six rebounds and dishing out 3.4 assists per contest.

According to ESPN.com, other schools under consideration by Azana included Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Virginia and Miami.

“Azana has worked extremely hard to achieve her success, and we know she will succeed at the highest level of collegiate athletics,” said GCHS Lady Rams coach Lisa Gedaka. “We are excited that she has chosen Duke University and we want to congratulate her on her choice. Azana has an amazing opportunity with the Duke women’s program, and we know she will make the best of this opportunity.”
