			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://gchsrams.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/image001.jpg"><img class="alignleft" title="image001" src="http://gchsrams.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/image001-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Gloucester Catholic and GCIT have rescheduled their 2nd annual Strikeout Cancer Game, endorsed by the National Fastpitch Coaches&#8217; Association (NFCA), for Monday, May 21st, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at Union Field in West Deptford.</p>
<p>This game will not only pit two of South Jersey’s Top 10 teams against each other, it will also be a battle for the Tri-County Conference Diamond Division title if both teams continue on their present paths.</p>
<p>Coach John Holland&#8217;s Cheetahs are have an outstanding season and can win the conference title outright with a victory. A GCHS Ram victory will be cause for a shared title.</p>
<p>More importantly, both Gloucester Catholic and GCIT will be playing and raising funds in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation to strike out breast cancer.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Just a reminder that the Scott Kaplan Memorial Swim Event is slated for Thursday, May 17 at the GCIT Pool from 7 to 9 p.m.</p>
<p>Come join us in celebrating the life of Scott Kaplan, a 2005 GCHS graduate and a 4-year member of the Rams’ swim team. We will also celebrate coach Kevin Nolan’s 25th year as a coach.</p>
<p>All GC students, alumni and teachers and friends of the Kaplan Family are invited (8th grade and up). Proceeds benefit the Scott Kaplan Memorial Scholarship fund. The fee per swimmer is $10 each.</p>

<p>Gloucester Catholic senior standout Joe Santone, Jr. recently committed to play baseball at Widener University next season.</p>
<p>Joe, a star pitcher-outfielder under coach Dennis Barth, has turned in a .300-plus batting average with 13 RBIs in helping the Rams to an 18-4 record on the season thus far. He has posted a 3-0 record on the mound this spring.</p>
<p>He will study finance at Widener once classes begin next fall.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Congratulations to coach Pete Peterson and the Gloucester Catholic girls&#8217; lacrosse team on qualifying for the NJSIAA tournament in only the second season of the program&#8217;s existence!</p>
<p>The Lady Rams reeled off five straight wins recently to earn a playoff date with Pingry, the top seed in Non-Public A competition.</p>
<p>GCHS has been led by the fine play of Amy Kohout, who has 51 goals on the season, along with Brittany Cogan, Gab Schocchini, Jen Fanelli, Natalie DiCarlo, and Kelly Coppola.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Gloucester Catholic&#8217;s top students were recognized during the 23rd Annual Academic Honors Banquet on Monday, May 7, at Masso&#8217;s Catering in Glassboro, NJ.</p>
<p>Academic awards were bestowed upon more than 120 students from grades 7 through 12 during a festive celebration.</p>
<p>Mrs. Cara Buckland, Director of Student Personnel Services, served as emcee for the evening while Principal John Colman presented all award medals and certificates to the students.</p>
<p>Delivering a presentation was guest speaker James McGinley &#8217;06, who earned a BS in chemical engineering from Notre Dame University in 2010 and is a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania.</p>

<p>Gaudreau, whose dad Guy Gaudreau is the Rams&#8217; hockey coach, enjoyed a banner season for Boston College this season in leading the Eagles to a NCAA national championship, and may be the best ice hockey player to ever hail from South Jersey.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://gchsrams.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/New-Voices-Postcard.jpg"><img src="http://gchsrams.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/New-Voices-Postcard.jpg" alt="" title="New Voices Postcard" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1203" /></a>Andrew Ruggieri &#8217;08, a student at The University of the Arts, will perform a 30-minute concert in the New Voices Cabaret series on Tuesday, May 22 at the Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia. Andrew&#8217;s performance is part of a program where upcoming artists sing before producers and directors from the surrounding area and New York who are scouting new talent. </p>
<p>Andrew plans to graduate The University of the Arts in December with a BA in Vocal Performance and a minor in Music Education. He plans on enrolling in a Master&#8217;s program in Music Education in January 2013. </p>
