| This fall, National Leadership Grant applications will open for the 2027-2028 academic year. Every year, through the Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF), the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA) awards 10-21 merit-based scholarships, ranging from $5,000-$32,000. This year, the SIF awarded a record-breaking $220,000 in scholarships during its 37th Annual National Education and Leadership Awards (NELA) Gala.
“I’m honored to receive this scholarship because being Italian American is something that has always been very important to me,” said Christopher Minicozzi, recipient of the 2026 DeNunzio Family and Elsie, Ubaldo and Vivan Cardia Scholarship. “It has shaped who I am as a person in ways I never expected… wherever I go my culture seems to come up, and it’s a way that I’ve connected people all around the world.”
“I’m very grateful to be honored for my Italian American heritage, said Madeleine Martufi, recipient of the 2026 Charles Evans Scholarship.
“I aspire to be a doctor, and being able to combine my love for my heritage and civic engagement [with] being a physician is super inspiring,” she added.
