Questions Families Ask Us The Most
From what makes us different to how we help students prepare for the future, here is what we tell them:
Q: What makes College Flight Path® different from other college counselors?
A: We help students build a thoughtful path to position them for success in college and beyond through personalized expert counseling, merit scholarship guidance, strategic major and career planning.
Q: Are we too early or too late to start the college application process?
A: We meet families where they are in the process. While there is value at every stage, the earlier you begin, the more opportunities you will realize. If you are later in the process, our focused plan still achieves excellent outcomes.
Q: Does College Flight Path® provide guidance on SAT and ACT strategy?
A: We advise an overall testing plan and view standardized testing as one piece of a larger admissions strategy; balancing academics, extracurricular involvement, personal statement, college fit and merit/scholarship opportunities to create the strongest college application.
Q: With AI changing so many careers, how do you help students prepare for the future by choosing majors with intention?
A: We emphasize career exploration throughout high school and college by identifying interests and strengths, building resumes and LinkedIn Profiles, and seeking meaningful internship and leadership opportunities. Rather than fear AI, we want our students to learn to leverage it as a tool to develop skills employers value.

What Happens During Our 90-Minute
Onboarding Meeting & How to Come Prepared
Our 90-minute onboarding meeting is where every College Flight Path® partnership begins: a student-led conversation that builds a complete picture of who your student is before any college list, essay, or testing plan takes shape. We cover academic history, current course load, extracurricular involvement, testing plans, and career or college interests, however early or undefined those interests may be, alongside family context and any special circumstances. Some students arrive knowing exactly where they want to go. Others arrive with no idea at all. Both are the right starting point.
Preparing makes the session more productive. A recent unofficial transcript provides academic context, and a list of current and past activities, jobs, and commitments — with a sentence on the role and level of involvement in each — fills in what grades cannot. Families can send these ahead of time or bring them to the session, whichever is easier. Beyond that, come ready to talk. The most useful preparation is not a document at all. It is a willingness to think out loud about what genuinely interests your student, and to share anything else that matters before we begin. There are no right or wrong answers here — that openness is what allows us to build a personalized plan with and for your student.
Protect Your Student Before They Leave Home
As families prepare for the transition to college, one of the most practical and frequently overlooked steps is establishing Power of Attorney documentation. Once a student turns eighteen, parents and guardians no longer have automatic legal authority to make healthcare or financial decisions on their behalf, even in an emergency. This gap exists regardless of where a student attends school or how close they live to home.
College Flight Path® is pleased to introduce our partnership with Mama Bear Legal Forms, whose Young Adult Power of Attorney package provides families with the healthcare and financial decision-making documents they need, completed efficiently and without the complexity of a traditional legal engagement.
We have negotiated an exclusive discount for the College Flight Path® community. Be sure to apply the Discount Code: COLLEGEMAMA20 at checkout for 20% off the Mama Bear Legal Forms Young Adult POA Package. This is one of the most important documents you can complete before your student moves to campus.
What Parents & Students Have to Say About Working With CFP
“I found Lynne to be a tremendous asset in helping me with the complicated and somewhat intimidating college process. Lynne was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and always available for whatever help I needed. She helped me present myself in the best and most effective way possible to admission officers. Her undying support through the college process was amazing. I’m so happy my parents found Lynne because I feel like I’ve gained a mentor, friend, and coach for life!”
We share weekly college planning insights for both parents and students over on Instagram, from grade-level timelines and application tips to scholarship guidance and decision-making support.
On TikTok, you will find virtual college tours, campus highlights, and real-world glimpses into different schools to help students explore options from anywhere.
