MARCAs is an incredible event that allows students, who might otherwise not have the opportunity, to be seen and recruited by the widest range of programs across the country. Colleges use MARCAs for pre-screening and even on-site acceptances or scholarship offers. We expect over $250,000 in talent scholarships to be offered at this year’s MARCAs. Pursuing one or more specializations can open doors in the professional world and expand your career opportunities! Recently, College Theater programs across the country have shifted significant scholarship opportunities to capture the few remaining applicants in Design-Tech. This creates an ENORMOUS opportunity for your Theater students with Design-Tech interest and experience. Encourage your kids to sign up for Design-Tech auditions in addition to their MT/Acting auditions. This isn’t a scary process! These recruiters are excited to meet you and learn about what your passions are! Simply come with a series of photos on a laptop or phone of shows that they’ve worked on. It is ok if your students were just backstage for productions, pictures are used to connect with recruiters and open up conversation. Students may still use a traditional display on a table complete with: pictures, prompts, books, and/or designs. Students may even just arrive in the designated classroom and be prepared to talk about why they want to study Design-Tech during their time at college.Click hereto learn more about audition requirements and the day’s schedule.
