Dear High School Students,
The Gloucester County Art League is proud to offer our Annual Excellence in Art
Scholarship, valued at $500.00, to a graduating high school senior who resides in
Gloucester County. The Scholarship is open to any student who will graduate in
June 2026 and is planning to pursue a college degree in any major (not limited to
fine arts).
In conjunction with Deptford Township Galleria, all applicants are asked to display
their work in the Student Art Exhibition in March 2026. There will be an Open
Reception Sunday, March 15 from 2-4 pm at which time the scholarship recipient
will be introduced and recognized. The event is open to the public.
Attached below is the application form and criteria. All criteria must be met to be
considered for the scholarship.

2026 EXCELLENCE IN ART SCHOLARSHIP FORM
The Gloucester County Art League, established in 1970, is a non-profit organization
dedicated to supporting local artists and promoting the arts throughout Southern New Jersey.
We offer exhibitions and events to foster interest and creativity in the arts within our community.
The GCAL Art Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who reside in
Gloucester County, NJ and are planning to pursue a college degree in all forms of studies not
limited to a Fine Arts major. *(NOTE: The award does NOT include fashion, theater or dance)
The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the exhibit’s reception held on March 15,
2026 at the Deptford Galleria in the Deptford Township Municipal Building, 1011 Cooper Street,
Deptford, NJ. The $500 scholarship for Excellence in Art will be awarded at the Gloucester
County Art League membership meeting on April 16, 2026 at 6:00.

2. A short summary essay of your personal goals and your career objectives.
Please include your name.
3. A letter of reference from a member of the art community who is familiar with
your artwork (could be a past or current teacher)
4. Submit four (4) original pieces:
They may be scanned and/or photographed using a PDF or JPEG format.
Digital animation may be submitted in gif format. Digital art must include the
original piece that was digitized.
Each piece must be numbered AND include the title, the medium type
(watercolor, oil, pencil, pastel photo, etc.) and a written description of the
piece.
ALL APPLICANTS are asked to drop off on Friday, February 27 from 2pm-5pm at
least one piece for display in the Galleria Student Art Exhibition.
