GCHS Athletic Director Pat Murphy Inducted into South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame!

IMGP5462Gloucester Catholic Athletic Director and former basketball coach Pat Murphy was inducted into the Al Carino South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame along with seven other inductees at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill on Feb. 12.

Pat collected 327 wins as the Rams’ former boys basketball coach during a stellar career that covered two different tenures. He won league championships in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2007 and 2008, and coached seven GC players who went on to score 1,000 or more points.

Gloucester Catholic reached the title game for South Jersey Non-Public B in 2007 and Pat was named the Gloucester County Times Coach of the Year. The Rams were also named the Team of the Year in 2007.
He was selected to coach one of the teams in the Al Carino Boys’ Basketball Club All-Star Game on two separate occasions.
Murphy is the Director of the Rams Basketball Camp (since 1985) and has served as the Athletic Director (since 2008) at Gloucester Catholic.
Pat married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Budesa Murphy in 1980 and has five children: Casey, Ryan, Theresa Mary, Tara, and Kyle. He is the grandfather of nine.
Also inducted along with Pat were Dennis Brown (Camden), Dennis Earl (Riverside), Faye Gerald Shannon (Pleasantville), Frank Henry (basketball official), Megan Light Mason (Gloucester City), Dan Merrifield (Mainland Regional), and Demetrius Poles (Delsea).
