The Time to Act Is Now! Let Your Voices Be Heard on Budgetary Issues!

Dear Advocacy Coordinators

With June first upon us, we are definitely at “crunch time” in terms of the final Governor’s budget, which will be released on June 30, 2016. There is still time to do some leg work on our very important issues by contacting some of the key people who have influence over this budget.

There are three legislators that serve on the Budget Committees and are in session right now writing the budget modifications to be presented to Governor Christie. Please ask as many people as possible, most especially your school parents, to email the following:

John J. Burzichelli, Vice Chair of Assembly Budget Committee: AsmBurzichelli@njleg.org

Maria Rodriguez-Gregg, Member of Assembly Budget Committee: AswRodriguezGregg@njleg.org

Senator Jeff Van Drew, Member of Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee: SenVanDrew@njleg.org
The message would be:

Please restore the Nonpublic Security Aid Program to at least $25.00 per student, and increase the per pupil allotment for nonpublic transportation, which has been frozen at $884.00 for the last eight years. Additionally, it is vital that the Nonpublic Nursing Services allotment be restored to $94.00 per pupil, and the Nonpublic Technology Initiative be restored to $40.00 per pupil. Such increases are greatly needed by nonpublic school students whose parents save the taxpayers a great deal of money each year by exercising their right to place their children in private schools.
Also, if you have not already done so, we are encouraging everyone to sign on to the Voter Voice set up by the NJ Catholic Conference, and follow the directions to email the already-written message to your local legislators.

Any ways in which you can get this word out during these last crucial weeks before the release of the Governor’s final budget would be greatly appreciated.
