An Announcement from Gloucester Catholic Principal Ed Beckett

May 19, 2016

Dear Families, Alumni and Friends of Gloucester Catholic,

I write to inform you of the news that Fr. Allain Caparas has been assigned to serve as Principal of St. Joseph’s High School in Hammonton, NJ beginning with the 2016-17 school year. We informed the faculty and staff of Father’s assignment yesterday and held an assembly with our student body to inform them of his new duties. Father addressed the students and we held a prayer service with students, faculty and staff which included a tribute to Fr. Caparas.

Mr. Colman and I want to thank Fr. Caparas for his selfless service to our students and the Gloucester Catholic community over the last three years. The impact he has had on the hundreds of students he served, as well as their families and the wider community, is incalculable. He has poured himself out on their behalf in prayer, teaching, counseling, celebrating the sacraments and leading our students to a deeper knowledge and experience of Christ present in their lives. Whether cheering at a sporting event, humming a tune in the hallway or leading a European tour, Fr. Caparas’s joyful spirit touched the lives of not only his students and their families, but also of our faculty and staff. He has, in short, been an exemplary priest in his time here at Gloucester Catholic.

While we will miss him greatly, we wish him many blessings in his new vineyard at St. Joseph’s in Hammonton. We know that the community there will grow to love him as deeply as we have and that his service there will bear great fruit as well. Father will continue here at Gloucester Catholic until the end of the school year. If you’d like to drop him a note, you can reach him here.

Please keep Fr. Caparas and Gloucester Catholic in your prayers.

All the best,

Ed Beckett

Principal
