COLLEGE ARMY ROTC INFORMATION

I am your local representative for the college-level Army ROTC program, covering many universities outside the City of Philadelphia. Our Dauntless Battalion is based out of Widener University, with partnerships at Villanova, West Chester, Neumann, Immaculata, Penn State Abington, Penn State Brandywine, and Bryn Mawr.

.ROTC Highlights –

1. Campus-based Leader Development Program. ROTC offers an accredited curriculum of Military Science coursework and practical Leadership Development training. Students take our courses in conjunction with their major course of study at the university.

2. First 2 years open without military obligation. ROTC consists of two phases – basic and advanced. The basic course is open to all full-time undergraduate level U.S. citizens. This gives students a chance to learn about their Army, and to see if they have what it takes to become a leader in the force. Those who meet the standards and wish to continue may commit to future service as they enter into the advanced course.

3. Potential to earn a full-tuition scholarship. Army ROTC provides the largest amount of college scholarship funding in the entire U.S. at over $250,000,000 per year. Students may apply from June 12th through February 4th of their senior year at www.goarmy.com/rotc. Those not selected may join ROTC and compete for 3-year, 2.5-year or 2-year scholarships while enrolled as cadets. Although a tremendous benefits, cadets do not have to be on scholarship to do ROTC.

4. Graduates commission as Army Officers with a career in the Active or Reserve component. ROTC graduates earn a commission as a Second Lieutenant, just like their West Point counterparts, and may serve in one of 17 basic officer specialty fields. They may serve full-time on Active Duty, or part-time in the U.S. Army Reserve or their state’s Army National Guard. This basic information is for those students planning to move onto college. We are particularly seeking students of character with strong academic skills, athletic prowess, and leadership potential in order to build the future office corps.
