Scott Kaplan Memorial Swim Event Is Slated for May 15

The Scott Kaplan Memorial Swim Event is slated for Thursday, May 15 at the GCIT Pool from 7 to 9 p.m.

Come join us in celebrating the life of Scott Kaplan, a 2005 GCHS graduate and a 4-year member of the Rams’ swim team. All GC students, alumni and teachers and friends of the Kaplan Family are invited (8th grade and up).

Proceeds benefit the Scott Kaplan Memorial Scholarship fund. The fee per swimmer is $10 each. For additional information and a registration form, contact Brady@taylorwiseman.com.

Class of 1963 Holds 50th Anniversary Reunion

The Gloucester Catholic High School Class of 1963 held  its 50th year reunion on Friday, October 4, 2013 at The Doubletree Hotel in Mount Laurel, NJ.

NFL Great Harold Carmichael Visits with Gloucester Catholic Players!

Former Philadelphia Eagles’ great Harold Carmichael, one of the NFL’s top receiver during the 1970s and 1980s, visited Gloucester Catholic’s football practice at Gloucester County College on Wednesday evening, September 10.

Mr. Carmichael delivered an inspirational speech to motivate our Ram players on the upcoming 2013 season.

Following his pro career with the Eagles, Mr. Carmichael served as an assistant coach at Gloucester Catholic for two seasons while his son Lee Carmichael played for the Rams in the 1990s. Mr. Carmichael currently works for the Eagles’ organization as Director of Player Programs. He is considered the greatest receiver in Eagles’ history following a 13-year career in which he finished sixth on the NFL’s all-time career reception list.

Gloucester Catholic to Implement New Administrative Structure: John Colman Appointed Head of School; Edward Beckett Is New Principal

Gloucester Catholic Junior Senior High School will implement a Head of School/Principal model of leadership that will present a new approach to administrative authority and responsibility. This new model of leadership is designed to help Gloucester Catholic adapt to the needs of the 21st Century Catholic School.

The Head of School will devote his energies to strategic planning, development and fundraising. The Principal will become the academic leader, responsible for the management of our school.

John Colman

Bishop Dennis Sullivan has appointed Mr. John Colman as Gloucester Catholic’s Head of School, effective July 1, 2013. Mr. Colman previously served as Gloucester Catholic’s first lay Principal from 1999 through 2013, overseeing a period of steady growth and academic advancement. Mr. Colman holds a BS from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Maryland and an MEd. in education from Holy Family University. As a teacher, department chair, athletic director, vice principal and principal, he has served the Gloucester Catholic family for over 40 years.

Edward Beckett

Bishop Sullivan has also appointed Mr. Edward Beckett as the new Principal, effective August 15. Mr. Beckett has served the school as Assistant Principal for Spiritual Formation for the past 8 years. He holds a BA in History from Rutgers University, an MA in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, and an M.Div from Weston Jesuit School of Theology. He also earned an M.Phil from Trinity College in Dublin. Mr. Beckett has an MA in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University and a New Jersey Principal’s Certificate. An alumnus of the Gloucester Catholic Class of 1978, he previously taught at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School and served as an administrator at Boston College High School.

Gloucester Catholic’s new administrative structure will be in place in September and will be augmented by a five-member Board of Advisors, which will counsel the administration in such areas as mission, policies, budget, and planning. Gloucester Catholic Junior High Confers 41 Diplomas

Gloucester Catholic Junior High School Class of 2013

Gloucester Catholic Junior High School conferred 41 diplomas to members of the Class of 2013 during the Second Annual Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, June 12, at St. Mary’s Church in Gloucester City.

The Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony each were held at St. Mary’s. Earlier in the day, graduates were honored during the Eighth Grade Awards Breakfast at Auletto’s Ballroom in Almonesson.

Gloucester Catholic Confers 179 Diplomas to Class of 2013

Gloucester Catholic held its 84th Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises on Tuesday, June 4, at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes Church, Blackwood, NJ. Gloucester Catholic conferred 179 diplomas to members of the Class of 2013.

Most Reverend Dennis J. Sullivan, Bishop of the Diocese of Camden, served as the main celebrant. Superintendent of Catholic Schools Mary P. Boyle conferred diplomas. Congratulations to all graduates and their families.

The Class of 2013 Valedictorian is Mr. Eric Prasalowicz and the Salutatorian is Ms. Casey Kupcha. Mr. Prasalowicz will attend Drexel University next fall while Ms. Kupcha will attend George Washington University.

Gloucester Catholic will also honor members of the Class of 1963 in a 50th anniversary celebration.

Mulford Dance Studio Parents Night for GC Families Slated for May 9

Gloucester Catholic Junior Senior High School will partner with the award-winning Mulford Dance Studios in Mt. Ephraim to form a dance team for the 2013-2014 school year. The new dance team will perform at various school-related functions throughout the school year under the direction of the Mulford staff.
Representatives from Mulford Dance Studio will be available to meet Parents and Families on Thursday, May 9 in the cafeteria beginning at 7 p.m.

GC Junior Senior High to Partner With Mulford Dance Studio to Form Dance Team in 2013-14

Gloucester Catholic Junior Senior High School will partner with the award-winning Mulford Dance Studios in Mt. Ephraim to form a dance team for the 2013-2014 school year. The new dance team will perform at various school-related functions throughout the school year under the direction of the Mulford staff.

Representatives from Mulford Dance Studio will be available to provide information to those students interested in signing up for this activity, Wednesday, March 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
